Tips for Preparing to Sell Your Home: Declutter & Depersonalize | Tip Tuesday

Welcome to the second part of our mini series on preparing your home to sell! We are going to be discussing decluttering and depersonalizing your space. In our video we will use a fireplace as an example for why this is so important. Keep in mind that since you will be moving soon, this would be a good time to pack up all non-essential items. When you are selling your home, the fireplace is a good selling point and feature that you will want to bring out. As you can see in the before photo the fireplace looks very busy and cluttered. There's an oversized painting, dark colors and a lot of personal photos on the mantle. It takes attention away from this beautiful fireplace. In the after photo we used a smaller and taller painting and moved it over to the right. We also added just a few bright accents. We have a small plant and a little sign. Notice there are no personal photos and it really draws attention to the fireplace. You can also paint the fireplace, for example we painted this one white. It really draws attention to this feature as well as brightens up the room.
