Tips for Preparing to Sell Your Home: Curb Appeal | Tip Tuesday

It's Tip Tuesday! Today we will discuss curb appeal as part of our mini series for preparing your home for the market. The exterior of your house is the first impression. It is usually the first photo that will be used for marketing, as well as the first photo that potential buyers will see online. So what can you do to boost curb appeal in a way that will save time and expense? Here are some small and easy changes that you can make when preparing your home:

1. Paint the front door. This is a simple change that will make your home stand out! We recommend using a bright color that will compliment the rest of the home. 

2. Paint the trim. You may not need to paint the entire exterior of the house. Adding fresh paint to trim can make the home pop and add detail that sets it apart. 

3. Clean up the yard. We usually don't recommend major landscaping like laying new sod since the new home owners may replace this anyways. To save expense, focus on making the yard look nice and clean. Mow the lawn, pull weeds, smooth out any patches of dirt. 

4. Lighting. On a previous Tip Tueday we discussed lighting in detail. But just to reiterate, if you have a front porch light, change the lightbullb and make sure it is in operating condition. This is really important especially if there will be night showings. It will make your home more inviting. 

5. Always have a doormat. This is the cherry on top that will make your home more inviting and of course gives a nice place for anyone entering to wipe their feet.
